Learning Design

Publishing Precision Meets Learning Strategy

Longueville Media’s 23 years of writing, editing, designing, and developing books has provided us with unique experience in crafting educational materials that engage learners and enhance your learning processes.

We bring the craft of publishing to the world of learning

Whether you’re creating professional development resources, online learning modules, or educational print materials, we build content that’s clear, engaging, and designed to stick.

Our process combines online learning with physical materials, reflecting current research that demonstrates significantly improved knowledge retention and comprehension when learners use both digital and printed resources. Online materials offer engaging media-rich content, while supporting print materials help provide focus and real-world cues that assist our brain to recall content more effectively.

Our five-step learning design process begins with understanding who your learners are and then building a comprehensive understanding of your required learning outcomes. This helps us create focused content that engages participants while effectively guiding them toward your learning goals.

A taste of our work

Client: NSW Health

Role: To script, produce, and direct a series of videos for New South Wales Health

Title: A guide for dads: Caring for your family during perinatal mental illness

Required outcome: We used real-life script scenarios to develop appropriate words and imagery for a range of demographics, but all in which the dads or their partner’s were facing periods of perinatal mental illness.

Client: Australian Institute for Suicide Research and Prevention (AISRAP)
Griffith University

Title: Systematic Tailored Assessment for Responding to Suicidality – Youth protocol (STARS-Yp).

Required outcome:
Phase one was to design and produce a printed version of the STARS 360-degree interview protocol designed for use by workers in the field of youth suicide prevention.

Phase two was to develop a user friendly online version of the STARS protocol interview process to be used in the field by any worker in the field of suicide prevention who undertakes assessment and or support of a person experiencing suicidal distress. The program aims to build a positive therapeutic alliance by creating a collaborative working team environment around problems to be solved together, as clinician and client.

STARS-Yp has been created using learning design standards and strategies, to ensure clear communication and ease of use. Materials include downloadable user training guides and online training materials.

Our five-step development process

4 Implement

Implementing the findings from steps 1–3 to create your engaging learning platform.

1 Empathise

This thinking phase where we spent time to understand your experiences, needs, and perspectives.

By observing, engaging, and listening, we gain insights that reveal user behaviours, emotions, and values, enabling the creation of innovative, human-centered solutions.

2 Analyse

We ask the questions:

What are your business objectives?
What are your learning needs?
What does your current learning capability look like?

3 Design & develop

Looking at the combination of methodologies we will apply to your learning materials, we plan the look and feel of the learner experience, define the learning objectives, and identify how will they be achieved.

5 Evaluate

We look at how the learners engage with your new training materials: Have they changed their behaviour, are they displaying new knowledge, and should anything be refined?
