Frequently Asked Questions
What is custom publishing?
Custom publishing is a collaborative process where we create a professionally written, designed, and produced publication that meets your goals – whether it’s a corporate history, narrative non-fiction, research report, or commemorative book.
We can manage the whole process, or provide selected services, as you need them.
Who do you work with?
We work with individuals, businesses, government agencies, academic institutions, and not-for-profits across Australia and the Asia-Pacific. Our clients range from first-time authors to large organisations needing unique high-quality publications.
What services do you offer?
We provide end-to-end publishing services, including concept development, research support, writing, editing and proofreading, design and layout, project management, and print or digital production. You can engage us for the full journey or just the parts you need.
How involved will I need to be?
As involved as you like. Some clients supply a draft manuscript, others provide source material and leave the writing to us.
Usually, the process is collaborative, with us keeping you informed and involved as required to ensure the final product reflects your vision.
Can you help with distribution and marketing?
Yes. While we’re not a retail publisher, we advise on distribution strategy, support launch planning, and can create promotional materials to help you reach your intended audience.
We have a retail bookshop distribution and publicity partners if you would like to sell your book into bookshops in Australia and online retailers globally. This includes print-on-demand and eBook sales.
How long does a custom publishing project take?
It depends on the publication's size and the work required, but most projects take 3 to 12 months from first contact to delivery.
We’ll give you a clear timeline at the outset and manage the schedule to meet key milestones along the way.
